Trinity Camping Overview

We headed out Saturday morning and arrive late Saturday evening. Our first camping trip this year was met with hail and rain! Once it let up we were able to quickly set up the tents and canopy, and get the fire started.

(Review) Bushy Tail Camp Site at Trinity/Shasta Recreation Area:

Not to bad of a place to camp for a few days, there's only one Shower facility, and Ron the park manager charges $5.00 to take a shower, but he doesn't time anyone so enjoy the hot soak. The park was very clean and the bathrooms were probably the best I've seen at a camp site. (Sorry Yellowstone, those potties you have are just nasty!) Ron came by once every morning to check on us to see if we needed anything, and there was plenty of branches and tree limbs to burn if you ran out of fire wood. I think my wife cleared out most of the lower camp grounds the 1st day! The camp is pet friendly, but please keep your dog on a lead. We had a visitor from a neighboring camp on day 2 (Lolla) and even though our mutt is the playful type, we can see there would have been a problem had they not gotten along. If we go up to Trinity Lake again, we're staying at Bushytail! Definitely recommend it!

Roofus the wondermutt: (all these sticks are for me!!)
Got any hot dogs!!
Could'nt ask for a better camping trip, kids attacked the smores, roasted hotdogs, and stank up the camp in the mornings with the smell of BACON! (Of course we "dropped" a few hotgogs so of course Roofus had to get a few..lol)

Temps during the day were at around 80, but at night it got down to the high 40's so would recommend wearing some extra clothes at night in your sleeping bag! We froze our bums off the first night!

Does it get any better than this?
Caught a back bear and her two cubs near the road and our last morning there, we had to drive out carefully, around every bend in the road, deer were just hanging everywhere!

Random Tree decorated for Christmas. This was on the side of the road on the way to Trinity Damn
Trinty Alps. If you travel down Trintiy Damn Road on the way to Trinity Damn, you have to stop at the senic overlook. WOW!

See ya on the next adventure!

Adventure #16: Hug a Tree

Found a tree, a Lodge pole Pine at BushyTail Camp. Although there were hundreds to choose from, this one looked like it needed a hug!

Trinity Lake

Trinity Lake Camping Trip:
Trinity Lake! Located in the Trinty/Shasta National Recreation Area of Northern California.

Camped with tents at the Bushy Tail camp area right off the main road and a stone throw away from the lake.

Arrived on Saturday evening (June 23rd) and of course it rained! But by Sunday morning everything was drying out and looking good.

Let the California Adventure Begin

Looking around for things to do here in California this summer, the kids are out of school and we're looking for a little adventure.

Found  a really cool website called "Capture California" with a list of adventures to go on for the whole family as well as a contest to win free stuff. Cant beat that huh?
    Here's the website: http://capturecaliforniagame.com/index.php

So as we go on these little adventures, we'll post the picts here!

First trip: Trinity Lakes near Mt Shasta at a little campground called Bushy tail!

Should be able to cross off Adventures #73, #74, and #75 on this one!
